Roof is done. Porch rail is done. Dog is asleep under the table with one ear inside out. Danny asked what I wanted to do today and I said nothing, and we did nothing, and it was the best day I have had since the spring. We went to the market in the morning and bought more than we needed. Came back. He fixed the gate latch that has been annoying him since August, which took four minutes and which he has been meaning to do for eleven weeks, and was absurdly satisfied about it. I read on the porch with my feet on the new rail. I did not show him the entry. I want to be accurate about why, because this is the third time I have logged not doing it and a pattern with three instances is not a coincidence. It was not avoidance today. It was that the day was good, and I did not want to spend it on this, and I made that choice deliberately rather than by default. Which is either genuine discernment or the most sophisticated version of the same move I have been making all year, and the honest answer is that I cannot currently tell.
