Evening Mirror. Looking back, what stayed with you?
Going to say it this week. The Feldman year properly, and the drawer, and the three lines. Not at the sink, not in the car, and not on a Saturday I have decided is too good to spend. Wednesday evening. He is back from Hendersonville at five and there is nothing on. Writing it here with a day on it, because the things that stay in my head do not happen, and I have about six months of evidence for that specific claim in this journal, and at some point the evidence has to be worth something or the writing is just a nicer way of not doing it. The appointment is the week after. The order matters — I want to have told him before we sit in that room, because otherwise I will be sitting in that room with a thing in my pocket, and that is how I have conducted the entire last four years and it is not how I want to conduct this. Dog is asleep. Roof is on. Rail is holding. Wednesday.
You have written a day on it. What makes Wednesday different from the Saturdays?
It is in here with a date attached and a reason the order matters, which none of the others had. And I have said it to you, which I notice is the fourth place I have said it now, after Tess and Priyanka and Hannah — and the only one left is the person it is about.
