The roof guy

Roof guy came out. Four to six, maybe eight if the sheathing has gone, which he thinks it has on the north side because of the way the shingles are sitting. He tapped a few things and did the face. Every trade has the face. Danny does the face. Danny was completely calm about it. He does numbers like this all day and they genuinely do not land on him the way they land on me — he hears eight and immediately starts sequencing it, what can wait, what we do ourselves, which month. He said we will find it. We will find it is a sentence I have heard before, in this house, about a different number, and the thing is that he did find it. That is the maddening part. He is not somebody who says we will find it and then does not. The record is actually very good. So I do not know what to do with the fact that my shoulders went up anyway and stayed up through dinner.
