The arithmetic at red lights
What it is
When the wanting surfaces, you turn it into sums about springs and years and how many, and the counting keeps you awake rather than getting you anywhere. You have also seen that the arithmetic is not actually about fertility, it is a way of asking how long you are prepared to wait for somebody else to be ready, dressed up as biology so it sounds like a fact instead of a boundary.
