OPEN QUESTION
Private practice, picked up and put back down

The question
Whether to leave the practice and go out on your own, a question you have raised and set down so many times that putting it down has become the automatic half. You have now done the maths properly, and on paper it works with room to spare, which told you the number has never been the problem. What you would actually need is for one of the two incomes in the house to be boring, and yours already is.
What hangs on it
You have done the sums and you trust them. Fourteen clients at your own rate beats twenty two at his. What stops you is not the number but that fourteen is a number you would have to produce yourself every month, against an income on the other side of the household that is a shape rather than a number.
