THEME
The hours that do not show up on the books

Meaning
The work you are counted for is the time in the room, and the real cost is everything that happens around it.
How it shows up
It shows up as the writing up, the forty minutes before a hard session when you are already in it, and whatever happens in your body for the rest of the evening after the four o'clock. You do the arithmetic in the car because that is the only place left to do it.
