OPEN QUESTION
Whether we are standing still

The question
The sentence you did not say out loud, that watching Hannah with hers makes you feel like you and Danny are standing still, and arguing with it has not made it go anywhere.
What hangs on it
It arrives through other people's photographs rather than as a decision. You describe it as watching somebody speak a language you did one semester of at university and could probably pick up again but have not, with the gap getting slightly wider every year. You disqualify the feeling as unfair almost before you have finished saying it, listing the house, the dog, how hard Danny works, and the sentence stays anyway. Thirty four in August.
