What the practice is
Before you go inside, you sit in the parked car until you are ready to be a person who talks again.
How it serves you
It happens at the end of a working day, after the hard sessions, in the one place where nobody needs a response from you. It is not dramatic and it is not distress. It is the buffer between the room and the house, and it is guarded, you need it and do not want to have to defend it.
